SCHEMA Co-Investigator Dr Hannah Leese, Reader in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, has been named as a finalist in the Innovator category of the 2026 everywoman in Technology Awards.

The everywoman in Technology Awards shine a spotlight on the tech industry’s most exceptional talent, from the UK and beyond, providing an opportunity for companies and individuals to put forward candidates for categories celebrating all stages of their career journey. Now in their 16th year, the awards have celebrated over 600 incredible women in tech from school students to C-level, bringing the industry together to recognise and reward their outstanding performance in this constantly evolving sector. The Innovator Award is awarded to a woman designing, developing, researching, implementing or being exceptionally creative with technology in an unconventional and innovative way. The citation for Dr Leese's nomination reads as follows:
Hannah develops accessible diagnostic technologies to support women’s and newborn healthcare, including pain-free microneedle tools for early infection monitoring. She also champions improving gender equality in engineering through leading departmental EDI initiatives and efforts to strengthen support and representation for women.
Winners of the everywoman in Technology Awards will be announced on 19 March 2026 at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel.
