PhD Affiliate wins Best Flash Presentation Prize at ACS Fall Digital Meeting
28 October 2026
SCHEMA Hub PhD affiliate Rosie Thorogood recently won the Best Flash Presentation Award at the ACS Fall 2026 Digital Meeting Global Virtual Symposium: Chemical Catalysis with Sustainability Footprints.
ACS National Meetings & Expositions are major scientific conferences hosted by the American Chemical Society — and take place both in person and online — the recent fall event being held from 23–27 August 2026 in Chicago.
The Global Virtual Symposia form part of the Meeting, and allows researchers to present their work online at the convenience of their time zones. Participating researchers enjoy similar benefits of the ACS Meetings, such as selected abstracts being included in the CAS database.
I presented work exploring different metal catalysts for the ring-opening polymerisation of cyclic carbonates and esters, where we have established a linear free energy relationship linking the metal catalyst acidity to the rate of polymerisation, hopefully aiding future targeted catalyst design.
The prize was awarded by the symposium chairs based on a comprehensive evaluation of the presentation's scientific content, slide quality, delivery, and eloquence, as well as the effectiveness during the Q&A session.
