Bushra Mughal

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Bushra is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Prof Graham Hutchings at the Translational Research Hub, Cardiff University. Her research focuses on the design of heterogeneous catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to value-added chemicals. She completed her PhD in Heterogeneous Catalysis in 2026 at Cardiff University’s Department of Chemistry, where her work centred on the oxidation of CO and hydrocarbons. As an early-career researcher, she is particularly interested in the design of novel heterogeneous catalyst materials for industrially relevant reactions. She has expertise in heterogeneous catalyst preparation methods and in a range of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques for catalyst characterisation. She aims to contribute to sustainability and the net-zero mission through her catalysis research.
