Gavin Irvine

Gavin is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath.

Gavin has extensive experience in both polymer synthesis and the physical properties of polymers and polymer hydrogels/networks. He undertook his PhD at Queen's University Belfast under the supervision of Dr Efrosyni Themistou looking at the synthesis of biocompatible polymeric nanoparticles for drug/DNA delivery using biologically friendly polymerisation processes. Gavin's current work is focused on the scale-up of sustainable photochemical reactions, the immobilization of enzymes and the depolymerisation of polycarbonates using the Spinning Mesh Disc Reactor (SMDR).
