Liam was based at Cardiff University and his work investigated catalysts for the hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol; specifically methods of increasing reaction selectivity.
Liam obtained his PhD in 2022 from the Cardiff Catalysis Institute under the supervision of Prof. Stuart Taylor studying novel techniques for synthesising supported metal catalysts for the application of the abatement of common air pollutants. He subsequently started a PDRA position investigating the synthesis and application of imogolite nanotube materials funded by the Leverhulme Trust. Liam was then a PDRA at MPC-FUNCAT in Cardiff University focusing on catalytic gas phase reactions including CO2 hydrogenation, ammonia decomposition, alkane dehydrogenation, and hydrocarbon oxidation.
