Yuan obtained her MChem from Durham University in 2019, where she conducted research under the supervision of Professor AnnMarie O'Donoghue on the synthesis of bis(amino)cyclopropenium derivatives. She subsequently completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh with Professor Guy Lloyd-Jones, where she focused on the mechanisms of asymmetric phase-transfer-catalysed fluorinations and developed a device to enable in situ monitoring of heterogeneous reactions by NMR spectroscopy. Yuan is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bath, working on a SCHEMA-funded project supervised by Dr Ulrich Hintermair, with co-supervision from Professor Matthew Davidson and Dr Sourav Chatterjee, developing self-regulating flow reactors to better understand and control copolymerisation processes.
